JAPAN GREAT DISCOVERY 2027
12 NIGHTS / 14 DAYS
Day 1: USA - Tokyo (Japan)
Departure flight to Tokyo.
Day 1: Tokyo
Arrival in the vibrant city of Tokyo, Japan’s economic capital, and the largest metropolitan area in the world with over 40 million inhabitants.
As you leave the airport, you'll find our local representatives directing you to your shuttle to transfer you to your Tokyo hotel. The rest of the day is free to relax or start exploring the city. In the evening, explore the sophisticated Roppongi district for an unforgettable nightlife experience with its refined restaurants and cocktail bars.
Day 2: Tokyo
Breakfast at the hotel. Around 9:00, meet your guide and explore the Asakusa district, Tokyo’s old town, where stands the city’s oldest Buddhist temple: Senso-ji (outside visit). Continue with Tsukiji outer Market, a true culinary paradise where you can taste fresh products. Your guide will then take you to a local restaurant for a delicious sushi lunch.
Afterwards, enjoy a guided walk in the iconic Ginza district, hotspot for luxury shopping and gastronomy, with its art galleries and refined cafés, nicknamed the “Japanese Champs-Élysées.” You will also admire the Kabukiza Theatre (outside visit). Finish the day in the lively Shinjuku district, including Kabukicho, famous for its bustling nightlife. Overnight in Tokyo. (Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner)
Day 3: Tokyo
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, enjoy a free day to continue discovering Tokyo. A Tokyo metro pass will be provided to simplify your travels around the city. Immense and fascinating, the city is made up of districts with various different atmospheres. You can start with a visit to Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building, a 51-story skyscraper offering panoramic views of the city, then stroll around Harajuku, a fashion hotspot. Take a break to enjoy Japanese specialties, before continuing to Omotesando. You can also opt for Shibuya district, one of the liveliest, with its many restaurants, karaoke bars, pubs and nightclubs. Dinner at leisure and overnight in Tokyo. (Breakfast)
Day 4: Tokyo – Yokohama – Kawaguchiko
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, depart for Kawaguchiko, a charming mountain town at the foot of the majestic Mount Fuji. Morning in Tokyo with a bus stop in front of the Imperial Palace, the main residence of the Emperor. Although it cannot be visited, the gates of Nijubashi bridge are worth seeing. Continue to the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum, where you will discover the secrets of this iconic Japanese dish through a culinary activity. The activity ends with lunch.
Upon arrival in Kawaguchiko, board a cruise on Lake Kawaguchi, one of the five lakes in the Mount Fuji region, offering a magnificent view of the mountain. Then enjoy a walk along the waterfront to admire Mount Fuji, Japan’s highest peak and sacred symbol for the Japanese people. Around 5:00 PM, check in at your hotel. *Please note that, in the event of poor weather conditions, the cruise on Lake Kawaguchi will be replaced by a visit to the traditional village Iyashi no Sato.
Day 5: Kawaguchiko – Matsumoto – Azumino – Takayama
Breakfast at the hotel, then depart for Matsumoto, a city in the heart of the Japanese Alps. Upon arrival, discover Matsumoto Castle, a national treasure surrounded by its moat with the Japanese Alps as a backdrop. Early afternoon, depart for Azumino to visit Daio Wasabi Farm, the largest in Japan, where this plant has been cultivated for centuries. Then continue to Takayama, an old feudal town nestled in the Japanese Alps, known for its rich historical heritage and traditional buildings that preserve the atmosphere of the Edo period. Dinner at leisure and overnight in Takayama. (Breakfast–Lunch)
*Please note that climbing to the castle tower is very physical: shoes must be removed and carried in a provided bag. The steps are high, narrow, and sometimes slippery. We do not recommend the climb for people with mobility difficulties.
Day 6: Takayama – Shirakawago – Gifu
Breakfast at the hotel, then explore Takayama with a visit to Takayama Jinya, followed by a walk in the old district and its iconic Sannomachi Street. In the afternoon, enjoy some free time in the village to admire the landscapes and discover the different souvenir shops. Afterwards, visit Kanda House, a magnificent example of gassho-zukuri architecture with 160 years of history. You will be able to observe numerous inscriptions left on the roof beams, showcasing the meticulous craftsmanship of the time, before departing for Gifu where you will spend the night. Dinner in a local restaurant. (Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner)
*Please note that, in the event of Kanda House being closed, an alternative visit of equal value will be offered.
Day 7: Gifu – Ise – Kii Katsuura
Breakfast at the hotel, then depart for a visit to Geku Shrine, built in honor of the goddess Toyouke, protector of food and dwellings. Continue with the discovery of Okage Yokocho, a district recreated to celebrate gratitude. This place invites visitors to stroll along its lively alleys, with small shops and traditional restaurants. Lunch in a local restaurant, followed by a walk around Meoto Iwa, the famous sacred rocks connected by a shimenawa (a sacred rice straw rope marking a sacred site in Shinto tradition).
Around 3:00 PM, take the road one last time to Kii-Katsuura, where you will spend the night. In the early evening, enjoy a Kaiseki dinner, consisting of a succession of culinary art dishes such as soups, sashimis, fish, meat and more. Overnight in Kii Katsuura in a Japanese-style room. (Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner)

On the way, visit Kumano Nachi Taisha Shrine, a spectacular site nestled in nature, where Buddhist and Shinto traditions coexist harmoniously. Also admire the majestic Nachinotaki waterfall, the highest in Japan.
Lunch in a local riverside restaurant. In the afternoon, transfer to Osaka. Breakfast at the hotel, then depart around 8:00 a.m. for the pier, where you will take a ferry to Miyajima, an island renowned for its exceptional scenery and considered one of Japan’s most beautiful landscapes. According to Shinto tradition, it is the island of gods, where birth and death are forbidden. Stroll through the town before visiting the magnificent Itsukushima Shrine, famous for its floating Torii gate, whose base is submerged at high tide, creating the impression that the shrine is floating above the sea.
Lunch in a local restaurant. Return by ferry to Miyajimaguchi to take the train to Hiroshima, then to Kyoto on board the Shinkansen (bullet train). Late in the day, explore Kyoto with a walk in the Gion district, famous for its geishas, called Geiko in Kyoto. Dinner in a local restaurant and overnight in Kyoto. (Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner)
